You will be working alongside world leading scientists and engineers in multinational teams.</p><p>You will provide high quality technical support and maintain high standards in H&amp;S across a range of laboratories, in particular within the Cleanroom in the Advanced Technology Institute (ATI). Specific responsibilities include maintaining and operating complex equipment and services used in the fabrication and testing of electronic devices, as well as implementing, maintaining and monitoring health and safety regulations, record keeping, PAT testing, waste disposal, and maintaining levels of chemical stock and consumables associated to these laboratories. Experience with CoSHH requirements is advantageous.</p><h3>About you</h3><p>You should have good communication and IT skills, and an aptitude for technology working alongside users of the facilities. Experience in some of the following is advantageous: vacuum systems, semiconductors and cleanroom skills. You will be required to work with users working on a wide range of devices for different applications.             <p id="isPasted">A unique opportunity for individual to join as a Laboratory Technician in the Medical School at the University of Surrey. This role provides technical support to the teaching and research areas in the Anatomy facilities within the Faculty of Health &amp; Medical Sciences. &nbsp;</p><p>The School of Medicine in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Surrey offers a 4-year, graduate-entry bachelor&rsquo;s degree medical programme. The first cohort of students started their studies in September 2024. &nbsp;</p><p>You&rsquo;ll provide technical support to academic and research staff and undergraduate students during the teaching sessions &amp; lab placements.</p><p><strong>Role &amp; Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p><p>You&rsquo;ll be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, responsible for the dissecting room, and the associated facilities, so you&rsquo;ll need flexibility and adaptability to be able to keep up with an ever-changing environment.&nbsp;</p><p>You&rsquo;ll also need to be physically fit and able to assist with the preparation, delivery and clear up of anatomy teaching classes. You&rsquo;ll need to have experience in HTA compliance, protocols and procedures and have experience of being a person designate on a HTA Anatomy licence.&nbsp;</p><p>Other responsibilities include:</p><ol start="1" type="1"><li>Preparation for scheduled teaching sessions and external course providers using the facility, e.g. set up/clear down, laying out specimens (including cadavers, skeletons, bones, models, radiographs and other resources) and related administration.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist in the day-to-day support of the laboratory inclusive of hygienic prep of specimens, ordering of consumables, cadaver preparation, laundry of PPE and waste disposal.&nbsp;</li><li>Liaise with academic colleagues to ensure their teaching requirements are understood and documented ready for preparation of classes.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist with the disposal of the remains of cadavers according to the requirements of the HT Act 2004.</li><li>Monitor and maintain a safe working environment in accordance with Health and Safety procedures such as HTA, COSHH, electrical safety testing, and disposal of waste. Assume position as a fire warden and first aider.&nbsp;</li><li>Participate in demonstrations/workshops for visitors as part of Open Days, Offer Holder Days, Widening Participation and other events. &nbsp;</li><li>Undertake other technical duties as required including maintaining clean and hygienic conditions, conducting regular maintenance checks, reporting faults and arranging repairs, monitoring and organising resource requirements.</li><li>As directed by line manager, work in other areas within the technical team as necessary to meet the business needs.&nbsp;</li></ol><p>The role may require a significant amount of manual handling and an ability to adapt to changes in the workload at peak times.
