The University of Surrey has an impressive reputation and track record of successful commercialisation of science and technology research, with a growing portfolio of activity.

A vacancy has arisen for the post of Impact Acceleration Account and Knowledge Exchange Manager (EPSRC & STFC) Manager.

This presents a unique opportunity to join an institution at the forefront of technology transfer and innovation. The Technology Transfer Office works in close collaboration with the University’s Surrey Research Park – home to c. 120 companies and set to grow further over coming years, as well as strong sources of venture funds, and an active business angel community. It benefits from support and resources from IP Group, the University of Surrey Seed Fund (USSF), Impact Acceleration Accounts, and a network of external funding agencies, entrepreneurs, VCs, and the SETsquared partnership – a dynamic collaboration between the Universities of Surrey, Southampton, Exeter, Bristol and Bath, which was twice ranked as the Global No. 1 Business Incubator.

The post holder will take responsibility for the success of the EPSRC and STFC Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAA) at the University; finding, developing and managing projects suitable for support.  They will be responsible for creating awareness of the Impact Agenda and Impact for future REF submissions. The post holder will take responsibility for preparing and writing the reports required by the funders and for preparing and writing the business cases for future EPSRC and STFC IAA funding opportunities.

Working within the Technology Transfer team, the post holder will work with senior colleagues within the wider University, including leading academics, to help to develop the University’s engagement with industrial and public sector partners in areas aligned with the University’s research interests and strengths, with a focus on EPSRC and STFC.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and relationship builder with the ability to quickly assimilate the key technical, commercial and societal advantages of any new technology, utilise a network of contacts to assess the value and potential for its exploitation and creation of impact, and to assist academic staff in obtaining matched or other funding to take the project forward.
