Events Coordinator

The role

We are currently seeking a proactive and highly organised Events Coordinator to join our friendly and vibrant Events Team at the University of Surrey on a one-year fixed term contract to cover a secondment. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to play a key role in the planning and delivery of a range of events in support of student recruitment activities including University Open Days.

You will work alongside a team of talented event professionals who take pride in creating meaningful and memorable experiences for a wide range of audiences — from students and staff, to our local community and key external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the planning, coordination, and execution of university events
  • Manage event logistics including venues, suppliers, catering, AV, and on-the-day delivery
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external partners, and service providers
  • Assist with budget tracking and event documentation
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism, inclusivity, and attention to detail across all events
  • Provide excellent customer service and guest experience throughout each event
  • Contribute to post-event evaluation and reporting


  About you:

  • Proven experience of running events from concept to evaluation with good knowledge of the operational requirements which are central to their successful delivery, such as catering, AV and risk assessments. 
  • Skilled at planning and organising your time to deliver a range of projects concurrently showcasing flexibility where necessary in order to manage changing circumstances.
  • Confident communication skills, a collaborative mindset and the ability to work confidently with a wide range of people
  • You will understand the need to be flexible, with extensive weekend/evening work required and have a solution-focused approach.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional experiences.
