The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research. With a beautiful and vibrant campus, we provide exceptional teaching and practical learning to inspire and equip our students for personal and professional success.  Surrey received a prestigious Gold award in the first ever Teaching Excellence Framework, which is testament to our passion for inspiring our students and preparing them for a bright future.

We are currently seeking a Head of Student Records and Data to lead one of seven sections within the University’s Academic Registry. The Academic Registry is a key department within the Chief Student Officer Directorate (CSO), which aims to put students front and centre of everything we do.

This role will provide leadership and direction to the Student Records and Data team in an important area for the University, leading the maintenance of the student record in the SITS student database and production of several essential data returns made to external agencies (e.g. HESA, Student Loans Company, Education and Skills Funding Agency, and UK Visas & Immigration). The post holder will also lead the University’s response to HESA Data Futures.

The Head of Student Records and Data will also contribute to the strategic development of the Academic Registry within the CSO Directorate, working closely with teams across the Directorate and more widely within the University with the aim of assuring students and staff of an excellent experience as part of the Surrey community. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, diplomacy and influencing abilities to be able to ensure relationships are exceptionally well maintained across the University.

The post holder will be an experienced, highly motivated professional with a strong background in Higher Education administration and management. With previous experience of working in a senior role in a complex organisation, you must have a well-developed understanding of administration in a university context, particularly in terms of regulations and compliance.  The post holder must be a team player who is used to working to tight deadlines as well as embodying the University’s values, encouraging diversity and inclusion and developing an open and supportive culture.

This is an exciting time to be joining the University of Surrey as we grow and enhance our commitment to the student experience and excellence in education.
