STFC-funded postdoctoral research position in EXPERIMENTAL NUCLEAR PHYSICS at the University of Surrey

Nuclear Astrophysics and Reactions: is to support our programme of nuclear astrophysics and nuclear structure studies via Coulomb Excitation and transfer reactions combined with gamma-ray techniques. The position will involve working with radioactive rare isotope beams and the application of charged particle detection systems at laboratories including Argonne National Lab, Florida State University, TRIUMF and Legnaro National Lab.

The successful candidate will join an established group studying nuclei of structural and astrophysical interest at the limits of accessibility, using a full range of experimental techniques. Candidates should have a proven track record of research contributions in experimental nuclear physics. Previous experience in the relevant spectroscopic techniques and data analysis methods would be an advantage.

The Experimental Nuclear Physics group at the University of Surrey  undertake research including fundamental theoretical and experimental nuclear physics, radiation physics and applications. The PDRA will join an established group studying isomeric and beta-unstable nuclei at the limits of experimental accessibility, nuclear structure phenomena and reactions pertinent to astrophysical scenarios using gamma-ray and charged-particle. Candidates should have a proven track record of research contributions in experimental nuclear physics. Our research also benefits from close collaboration with the Nuclear Theory Group in Surrey. For further information about the Surrey Nuclear Groups please see

The position is available for a period of up to 18 months in the first instance.
