Appointment of Vice-Provost, Education

The University of Surrey is one of the UK’s leading universities, with a world-class reputation in teaching and research and an enterprising spirit.  Inventive and forward thinking, its heritage shows a recurring theme of going its own way, doing things differently – and achieving notable results, such as the achievement of 4 Queen’s Anniversary Prizes, the grant of a Regius Professorship to the Electronic Engineering Department, and growth activities through the launch of a Veterinary School, a world leading 5G mobile communications centre and a thriving Research Park. Surrey is recognised for the high quality of its learning, teaching and student experience, as evidenced by its TEF Gold status.

The University is now seeking to appoint a Vice-Provost, Education directly responsible for setting policy and strategy for learning, teaching and student education matters within the University. Reporting to the University’s Provost, and a member of the University Executive Board, the Vice-Provost, Education will have a high level of autonomy in delivering enhancements to, and excellence in, all aspects of teaching, learning and the student experience. The post holder will be expected to strategically lead by creating, developing and delivering new and existing University-wide teaching, learning and student education strategies in an innovative and proactive way, ensuring the correct balance between enhancement and assurance.

An inspirational leader, the successful candidate will bring a passion and genuine commitment to the spirit and values of the University and its commitment to providing innovative teaching, learning and education strategies. S/he will possess strong academic standing; have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; and will be able to identify, develop and deliver strategies that will enhance the University’s position on education, ensuring that these strategies are embedded within the University strategy and vision.
