An opportunity has arisen for an hourly paid surgeon to join our  teaching team in delivering ‘Patient Care Days’ at the PDSA Clinic in Gillingham which allow University of Surrey Veterinary medicine  students the opportunity to learn how to manage a hospital ward and develop and implement appropriate care and case management plans for inpatients.

The teaching activity occurs at PDSA in Gillingham’s Pet Hospital  (Gillingham Business Park, Gillingham, ME8 0RR). These sessions take place every Tuesday and Wednesday (not during holiday periods or the summer) and the successful candidate will be required to be onsite from 8.30am – 5pm.

We are inviting to join our team an experienced practitioner, comfortable with all aspects of companion animal medicine who has an interest in teaching and preparing the students for their final year rotations. This role might suit someone who would like to try out developing their teaching skills and join an academic community at the same time as being a fantastic opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the UK’s leading vet charity.

Great communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team are vitally important as this position involves working closely with the staff at Gillingham along with Surrey academics, typically at distance.  Informal enquires for this great development/possibly CPD opportunity are welcome to be directed to Shona McIntyre (Head of Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences) s.l.mcintyre@surrey.ac.uk
