Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences

The University of Surrey has a strong legacy of pioneering research, real-world impact and graduate success. We are proud of our dual strength in teaching and research, consistently ranked among the UK's top universities for student satisfaction, teaching quality and graduate employability. Our community of talented staff and students is characterised by curiosity, creativity and shared purpose. Within this thriving environment, our Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is home to five Schools spanning biosciences, health sciences, psychology, medicine and veterinary medicine. Guided by our distinctive 'One Health, One Medicine' vision, the Faculty is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of people, animals and societies through interdisciplinary education, research and innovation that prepares graduates to make an immediate and lasting impact in healthcare, veterinary practice, research and beyond.

We are seeking a new Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean to lead the Faculty through its next phase of growth and distinction. Working closely with the Vice-Chancellor, Provost, and colleagues across the institution, and as a key member of the University's Executive Board, the postholder will provide confident, visible leadership that strengthens research intensity, educational excellence and international reach.

You will provide strategic and academic leadership to the Faculty, setting direction, driving performance and building a strong, inclusive culture that delivers high-quality education and research to the highest academic and professional standards. You will also lead the development of the new pan-University Institute in Future Health, expanding strategic partnerships with healthcare providers, industry and policymakers. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of a Faculty with ambitious plans for growth, innovation and global impact, aligned with the aspirations of Vision 2041.

Surrey is a diverse, ambitious and welcoming community. We are looking for a leader with an outstanding academic and leadership record, a distinguished track record across health and medical sciences, and the ability to inspire colleagues and partners across complex professional and clinical environments. You will bring sound judgement, integrity, and a deep commitment to academic excellence and societal impact – someone who can champion our values while driving the transformation needed to secure Surrey's position among the world's leading universities.
