Project Manager - Decarbonisation

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our fast-paced Projects Team for a dynamic, innovative Project Manager to support the University decarbonisation programme.

You will be responsible and accountable for the leadership and overall project management for new build and refurbishment capital development projects.

We value, empower and support every member of staff to get the best out of your unique talents, so you’ll be rewarded with a generous salary, Christmas & Easter closure leave, excellent pension contribution and a unique and vibrant working environment.

Role & Responsibilities:

You will be expected to operate with a high degree of initiative and autonomy, providing a collaborative, client facing focus and act as the main point for contact and communication within the project team. Excellent communication skills will be required as you’ll be engaging with a wide range of Stakeholders across the campus, faculty and academic staff, EFCS Engineering teams and other key departments across the Estate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with colleagues and key stakeholders to develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, resource allocation, cost estimates, and timelines, ensuring alignment with the Project Managers toolkit.
  • Provide day-to-day management and oversight for multiple smaller projects or contribute to the delivery of larger, major projects, coordinating team members, supervising contractors, and maintaining communication with project sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective communication strategies across all phases of the project lifecycle, working closely with senior project managers and stakeholders to ensure alignment of objectives and timely delivery.
  • Partner with the Category Manager to oversee procurement processes, ensuring project objectives are met efficiently and cost-effectively while adhering to value-for-money principles.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the Project Sponsor (primarily the Head of Sustainability), offering expert advice on programme schedules, budgets, quality standards, and communications, and monitoring project-specific goals and performance targets.

Due to the nature of the role, there is a requirement for some on-campus working, and some remote working is possible subject to agreement.
