The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Outreach and Public Engagement Specialist to support the delivery of a three-year STFC Leadership Fellowship in Public Engagement, focused on inspiring young carers aged 8-16 to explore STEM and build science capital through space science. This is a part-time role at 0.4 FTE, fixed term upto 30 September 2029.

Working closely with the Principal Investigator and project partners, the postholder will support the co-creation, coordination and delivery of inclusive public engagement activities across Surrey, Hampshire and Sussex. The role will include workshop planning and facilitation, partner liaison, inclusive activity development, evaluation support, safeguarding-aware delivery, and coordination and mentoring of student volunteers and early-career researchers.

We are looking for someone with strong experience in public engagement, outreach, education, youth or community work, together with excellent organisational and communication skills. Experience of working with children or young people, external partners and inclusive or co-created programmes would be particularly valuable. The role requires travel across the region and may involve occasional evening or weekend activities.
