Associate Professor in Production Animal Medicine

The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a veterinary degree and PhD for a full-time post in production animal medicine. The successful applicant will join a team of fellow professionals within Veterinary Clinical Sciences, at the School of Veterinary Medicine, committed to providing excellence in research and teaching for the benefit of a new generation of vets. As part of the start-up package, we are excited to be able to offer (if appropriate) a funded PhD studentship, enabling the right candidate to quickly integrate into the School as they continue to build their research here at Surrey.

In the role you will:

  • Develop and contribute to high quality research in production animal medicine, veterinary sciences or education, working collaboratively across the Discipline to increase research outputs. 
  • Use your skills to support theoretical and practical teaching within the BVMSci programme, particularly in the area of production animal species.  
  • Support practical assessment across all years of the programme and contribute to academic administrative duties.

  • A thorough understanding of basic and applied veterinary sciences.
  • A passion for veterinary sciences and a strong commitment to delivering excellent teaching.
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to work flexibly and creatively in different contexts are essential, alongside excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Experience of teaching in an educational or professional setting.
