We are excited to invite applications for a Research Fellow (Veterinary Vaccine development) position funded by industry. The position will be based in the School of Biosciences at the University of Surrey, but it will involve working closely with colleagues in the School of Veterinary Medicine. You will be part of a team in a vibrant, interdisciplinary research environment with a strong international reputation.
The main focus of the project will be to develop novel bacterial vaccines for livestock pathogens in collaboration with colleagues in academia and industry. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, molecular biology and phenotypic assays. You will be an important member of a research team focused on understanding the pathogenesis and control of endemic bacterial diseases of livestock and poultry. You will be a member of the La Ragione Research group, and the project will run in parallel with BBSRC, EPSRC, MRC, AHRC, EU, charity and commercially funded projects in the areas of bacterial host-microbe interactions, novel interventions and AMR.
You will be based in the School of Biosciences (Stag Hill campus), but will also work in the School of Veterinary Medicine (Manor Park campus). You will be part of a rapidly growing and dynamic discipline and wider Faculty network of scientists. The post holder will work closely with colleagues in industry and some national/EU travel may be required.
