The Partnerships Directorate is focussed on the growth of our industrial and business partnerships and our civic and regional links, as well as our international business engagement.

A vacancy has arisen for the post of China Partnerships Manager, developing the University’s key strategic relationships with industry and non-academic research institutes in China.

The postholder will lead on developing a portfolio of such relationships and act as the key account manager for those relationships deemed most strategic. The role will involve both strategic and tactical activity and seek both to build new relationships and consolidate existing relationships. The role will also involve creating and managing a portfolio of activity with key Chinese partners. A specific objective will be to increase income from collaborative research,  contract research and innovation activities.

Working within the Partnerships team, the post holder will work with senior colleagues within the wider University, including leading academics, to helpto develop the University’s engagement with industrial and public sector partners in areas aligned with the University’s research interests and strengths, with a focus on the Chinese sector. The purpose of the role is to build strong relationships and translate them into long-term mutually beneficial partnerships.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, relationship builder and will have experience of relationship management at executive board level.  The post-holder will have strong project and programme management skills, commercial acumen and experience of developing options and proposals for funding.
