The expanding Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, is building capacity in Health and Biomedical Informatics to deliver cutting-edge research across key themes underpinning the University of Surrey’s Research Strategy, including Innovation for Health and Digital Innovation. We invite applications for a new university lecturer position to develop research and deliver teaching in health data analytics and informatics.
Our new initiatives in Health and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Surrey offer exciting opportunities for the successful candidate to develop and further their career at Surrey in novel and emerging areas of informatics and data analytics. The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary community underpinning translational health and biomedical informatics, which links researchers in statistical multi-omics, systems biology, digital health, and clinical and experimental medicine, as well as local NHS trusts. This new post will also engage with the multi-disciplinary vHive centre, which aspires to promote development and adoption of digital innovation in animal-human health under our ‘one health, one medicine’ vision, to support multidisciplinary and translational research.
The lecturer in Health Data Analytics will contribute to and build programmes in health informatics, focusing on clinical and population informatics, developing new areas such as nursing informatics, and veterinary informatics, as well as developing applications of informatics techniques to health and medical data to improve patient outcomes and the delivery of healthcare.
Potential candidates will have demonstrable experience in real-world clinically-relevant data, informatics techniques, data science, and statistics. These may include method in Artificial Intelligence, statistical modelling, epidemiology, bioinformatics, data linkage and data mining, as well as insights or experience of where and when to include novel machine learning and other advanced techniques.
Research in the Faculty is conducted in four Schools; each with their own discipline-specific identity: the School of Biosciences and Medicine, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Psychology and the School of Veterinary Medicine. The research disciplines in the Schools are connected by Faculty and University-wide collaboration streams with the remit to develop larger research projects or programmes which require multidisciplinary teams with expertise from several schools and external partners.
