The University of Surrey, School of Veterinary Medicine is, part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, hosts vHive, a research centre, startup and incubator dedicated to innovation and adoption of digital technologies in veterinary and animal health. It is situated on the University Manor Park site close to the main University campus.

We are looking to recruit a fixed term Research Assistant to work to work on a project to provide biomechanical data of lame dogs for the development of the Whistle collar, a pet's collar that monitors its activity and location.

This post will be responsible for dog recruitment using our current database, data collection and analysis; will prepare periodic reports of the results and contribute to journal peer-reviewed publication(s) resulting from the research project. The post-holder will work closely to the PI of the project and with the clinical research team and will handle the contact with study participants. To meet the requirements of the role you must have experience and a strong background on biomechanics and motion data analysis; and have experience handling with animals, preferably dogs. You will need good interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and highly efficient. Due to the nature of the role, applicants will have at least part-completed a relevant doctoral degree e.g. in biomechanics, mechanical or biomedical engineering, physics or other related disciplines OR have relevant experience in a given field.
