The Global Engagement  Office under the leadership of the Senior Vice-President (Global Strategy and Engagement) (Professor Vince Emery FRSB) leads on all strategic aspects of internationalisation including student and staff mobility, partnership relationship management, new partner development and global reputational enhancement.

The post holder will exert a significant influence on the University’s future strategic direction through the delivery of the Global Strategy with a particular focus on the development of international partnerships, the implementation and monitoring of the strategy and enhancing the University’s global reputation. The post holder will play a major role in leading the delivery of the strategy by co-ordinating teams and individuals across different faculties/departments.  The role has the following dimensions:

International partnerships

  • Leading our engagement with the University Global Partnership Network (UGPN)
  • Development of Surrey’s engagement with key external scholarship bodies and funding agencies

Strategy and Planning

  • Provision of advice to the Senior Vice-President (Global Strategy and Engagement), Associate Deans (International) and other staff on the development and implementation of the Global Strategy.  The KPIs identified as part of our annual review provide the framework for this activity. 
  • Oversight of implementation and monitoring of regional strategic plans. The post holder leads on the production of these plans which provide a vehicle to operationalize Surrey’s activities occurring in various regions across the world.

International reputation and marketing

  • In support of Surrey’s ambition to be a high ranking university globally, working closely with the Marketing and Communications Department to enhance the University’s international profile.
