The Surrey Human Performance Institute (SHPI) is a key facility within SSP which is involved with the health and fitness testing of a wide range of user groups. Within the University’s Innovation for Health facilities, our movement analysis and gait lab boast top of the line measurement and analysis tools currently used in clinical and performance management.

We are now looking to appoint an ambitious and driven Lecturer in Sport and Exercise  Psychology to join our academic team within the Sport & Exercise Science Section situated in the School of Biosciences & Medicine (SBM).  The successful candidate will help enhance our reputation and grow our undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences (SES).  To join our team, you will display ambition and drive, a desire to enhance our strong teaching profile, give our students an outstanding experience and undertake cutting-edge research.  You will bring with you a strong track record in the area of Sport and Exercise Psychology.   The post holder will have the opportunity to link closely with Surrey’s School of Psychology which, along with SBM, sits within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.  Both Schools have world-leading research programmes.

As a member of the Sport & Exercise Sciences Academic Team, you will be involved in a wide range of teaching and research activities which include (but are not limited to) coordinating the Sport and Exercise Psychology Modules within our SES UG programme, overseeing student projects and provide pastoral care to students. You will also be expected to undertake cutting-edge research in Sport and Exercise Psychology, including securing key research grants and publishing original research in high impact factor journals.  You will also work in close collaboration with the Surrey Human Performance Institute and colleagues within and across the Faculties at the University of Surrey.  This is a diverse and variable role, which requires the post holder to operate flexibly and react positively to changing circumstances and requirements, through demonstrating initiative and flexibility in the arrangement of their work priorities.

The post holder is expected to have a degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Sport and Exercise Science/ Sports Psychology as well as a PhD. Additional related qualifications (such as BASES/SPEAR or BPS accreditation would be desirable.
