ACIT Hub Training and CPD Lead

The University of Surrey is a global community of people and ideas, dedicated to life-changing education and research.

Our culture empowers people to achieve and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.

The role

We are seeking an experienced Training and CPD lead to drive training programme development for the “Accelerated Compute Infrastructure Training Hub (ACIT-Hub).” The project is a collaboration between the Universities of Surrey, Oxford, Sheffield, Bristol and Imperial. Our aim is to create a go to training hub and raise the profile of the Research Technology Professionals (RTPs) building and maintaining accelerated compute infrastructure in the UK.

You will join an established, highly rated research centre, with modern facilities and close links with industry. The Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP) is an International Centre of Excellence for research in Audio-Visual Machine Perception. The Surrey Institute for People Centred AI (PAI) builds on 38 years of work into foundational AI in CVSSP.

The ACIT-Hub is a collaboration with the Research Computing Services team based in IT services. This group of highly motivated individuals support research computing infrastructure across the entire university. They are the experts who will both benefit from and help shape the training we deliver across the hub.

About you

You will be an experienced and enthusiastic individual with a passion for developing accessible and inclusive training for technical teams. You will have a strong collaborative ethos and understand the principles of co-design to engage with subject matter experts and external partners.

What's in it for you?

We believe that the University of Surrey is a fantastic place to work. We are dedicated to creating a dynamic, flexible and enjoyable environment in which people can thrive. Our beautiful campus is an inspiring setting for a global community dedicated to contributing to transformative education and innovative research.

  • Discounted access to world-class fitness facilities
  • Relocation assistance where appropriate

The University of Surrey is committed to providing an inclusive environment.  We place great value on diversity and particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups.

While this job is advertised as part-time, we are still building the hub team and for the right candidate we are able to support a full time position.

AI Ethos

We are at the heart of AI research and understand that there are responsible ways to use AI. We sometimes use AI to help develop job descriptions, adverts and recruitment materials but there is always a human in the loop. We do not use AI for sifting or triaging applications. While we appreciate AI can help you refine your application, we encourage you to use these tools in a way that helps you present your own experience clearly and authentically.
