The Student Experience Department are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is interested in supporting students with all aspects of student-life. The post holder will work within the MySurrey Hive, a one stop shop for all non-academic student enquiries, ensuring that they have a memorable and high-level student experience at Surrey. The post holder will be required to take on day-to-day administrative and operational duties, as well as having the opportunity to work on projects and contribute towards University events such as Welcome and Registration. 

The post-holder should be confident in their use of Microsoft packages such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams with the ability to learn other internal IT systems. Organisation and customer service skills are key to this role, with the ability to speak to students in a calm and friendly manner. The post holder will be able to multi-task and deliver to deadlines in a fast paced and high-pressured environment. They will work well individually and as part of a close team, regularly liaising with many other student support services across the University. 

This role will require the post holder to work on campus, either in the back office or in the MySurrey Hive x4 days a week and x1 day from home. The schedule will be arranged to suit departmental need at the time, some flexibility can be exercised. Training will be provided for all aspects of the role. 

Responsibilities:

  • Greeting and offering support and guidance to users of the MySurrey Hive 
  • Answering incoming phone calls, emails and face to face enquiries from students and the wider team/departments
  • Keeping accurate records on the Universities IT system, OneSurrey 
  • Communicating with other departments and support services using Microsoft Teams
  • Signposting students and escalating enquiries where necessary to ensure they are receiving the relevant support
  • Overseeing the MySurrey Hive space and referring to the diary for events and appointments
  • Producing student letters i.e. council tax exemption and bank letters
  • Completing accommodation references 
  • Other administrative duties
