The School of Economics at the University of Surrey invites applications for a post-doc researcher (also known as a Research Fellow in the British system) in Economics. The appointee will work on an ESRC-funded project on the application of machine learning techniques in international trade research. Essential requirements for the position are a good knowledge of panel data econometrics (in particular, the estimation of models with high-dimensional fixed effects), as well as experience in coding in R, Matlab or Stata. Coding skills in C and C++ would be a plus, as would be a Background in international trade research.
The post is for a two-year period and our preferred start date is 1 July 2021.

Please note, it is University Policy to offer a starting salary equivalent to Level 3.6 (£31,866) to successful applicants who have been awarded, but are yet to receive, their PhD certificate. Once the original PhD certificate has been submitted to the local HR Department, the salary will be increased to Level 4.1 (£32,817).
