An opportunity has arisen for a full-time fixed term appointment in the HEON (Higher Education Outreach Network) team within the Chief Student Officer’s Directorate. The post is fixed term until August 2021

HEON is a partnership working across Surrey and North East Hampshire as part of the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP), funded by the Office for Students. HEON delivers collaborative outreach to students from Years 9 -13 within certain wards who have low progression rates into Higher Education with the aim of supporting the NCOP aims to:

Reduce the gap in higher education participation between the most and least represented groups

Support young people to make well-informed decisions about their future education

Support effective and impactful local collaboration by higher education providers working together with schools, colleges, employers and other partners

Contribute to a stronger evidence base around ‘what works’ in higher education outreach and strengthen evaluation practice in the sector.

The post holder will be responsible for planning and organising overall outreach programme delivery and external relations for HEON. He/she will work under the overall direction of the HEON Manager and will be expected to work collaboratively with the rest of the HEON central team, HEON partner officers, and various external stakeholders in order to meet the aims and objectives of the NCOP.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills, and will be able to demonstrate a strong ability to plan, design and deliver programmes of activity and communicate with, and obtain buy in from, a variety of different audiences.
