The Academic Skills and Development (AS&D) team, part of Library and Learning Services at the University of Surrey, is seeking to recruit talented and experienced Learning Developers as part of our ongoing development as a service.

This is one of two new permanent Learning Development Teaching Fellow posts currently being advertised; both are senior positions, with leadership and some line management responsibilities. Working with the Head of Learning Development, the post-holders will also have strategic input into the direction of the service and learning development at Surrey.

This particular post seeks applicants with a background in library/information science, coupled with an interest in, and extensive experience of, learning and teaching.

AS&D is a dynamic, cohesive and flexible service, with strong team/collaborative ethics, and a great place to come and work! The team is involved extensively in a wide range of institutional activities.

The successful applicant will:

  • have an accredited honours degree or postgraduate qualification in Library or Information Science, or a related subject;

  • have at least three years’ experience of developing and supporting students in a learning and teaching capacity in HE, in a varied range of applied contexts informed by a desire to develop understanding in relation to new areas;

  • be passionate about student learning development in HE and a creative and innovative practitioner;

  • have experience of building strong collaborative working relationships with faculty colleagues to enhance learning development opportunities within curricula;

  • have extensive knowledge of theory, concepts and practical application of learning development and related learning and teaching pedagogies;

  • have demonstrable experience of effective management of a team and/or leadership of significant team-based projects in relation to learning development and/or learning and teaching in HE;

  • be experienced in the evaluation and review of service provision;

  • hold a professional qualification in learning and teaching in HE (e.g., PG Cert/Graduate Certificate/Masters).

The post-holder will be highly-motivated, reflexive and intrinsically student-centred. Awareness of developments in HE relevant to learning development and learning and teaching is essential.

The role contributes significantly to facilitating learning and enabling students to reach their full potential as independent learners.

Interviews will be held w/c 02 March.
