The University

Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE), founded in 1952, is one of the leading universities in China in the areas of finance, economics, management and tourism.

Surrey International Institute, located on DUFE campus, is an academic partnership between DUFE in Dalian and the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. The Institute has recently expanded programmes and now offers reputable programmes in the areas of Accounting and Finance, International Tourism Management and International Business Management.

NB: This appointment is not with the University of Surrey. While the role, as part of a highly international team of fellow academics, is to teach on the SII-DUFE Accounting and Finance programme, the appointment will be made by DUFE, and the successful candidate will be employed by DUFE. The positions will be offered on fixed-term contracts.

The Vacancies

To accommodate our growth, we are now seeking the appointment of academic staff in the following positions / areas:

  1. Accounting (with experience in teaching UK taxation),
  2. Finance (with experience in teaching Corporate and Business Finance)

The positions will be appointed at either the Lecturer / Senior Lecturer level, depending on qualifications and experience, though those with high level research profiles may be considered for other academic ranks. 

Qualifications / Experience

  • A minimum of a relevant Master's degree from an internationally recognised university together with relevant work experience
  • A PhD from an internationally recognised university together with and research in one of the listed fields is strongly preferred
  • Ability and/or experience to provide high quality teaching using the English medium
  • Competent in both class-based and online delivery approaches using virtual learning environments
  • Demonstrable expertise in chosen field and a relevant teaching qualification (such as PGCert and membership to bodies like AdvanceHE, UK)
  • Professional working experience in relevant fields is preferred
  • Capable or experienced in collaboration with colleagues in the joint development of course materials, including assessments
  • For the Accounting position, in addition to a relevant academic qualification from an internationally reputed university, a relevant Professional qualification (such as ACCA, CIMA, CFA, CPA Australia, AICPA, and CGA Canada) is strongly preferred (or at least the applicant is in the final stages of completion).

In brief, ideal candidates will have a PhDs in relevant fields together with related research, be experienced in university teaching, preferably with a UK university, hold professional and teaching qualifications together with professional work experiences.

Responsibilities

Contributing to the development of the taught courses across our undergraduate or postgraduate programs and the delivery of a qualified student learning experience;

Engaging in course design and management, curriculum review and new course validation processes;

Participating in and support the accreditation journey of the school, providing teaching, learning and administrative support to the school as a member of Accounting Department;

Undertaking any such other duties within the scope of the post as may be requested by the relevant Department Director.

Remuneration Package

The salary offered will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience, but will compare favourably with leading Chinese Universities.
