Your new role:

As a Management Accountant you will be part of an 8 strong team within the FP&A function reporting into the Head of Management Accounts. The focus of the team is to provide University wide robust financial management information to support decision making across financial planning and analysis. You will actively support the business finance managers with regards to reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis which in turn will support the financial position of the University thus helping to drive long term financial sustainability. 

You will be responsible for contributing towards the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts for your given areas, posting accruals, pre payments and adjustments accordingly. You will provide detailed variance analysis, explaining key differences working closely with Business Finance Managers, finance and non-finance colleagues and key stakeholders with whom you will need to maintain and build strong relationships, and present opportunities and risks in relation to financial information. 

What you’ll need to succeed

You will be ideally part qualified CCAB/CIMA, or actively studying. It is essential that you have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role, within public or private sector, and have an intermediate working knowledge of Excel. Higher education exposure would be a plus, but not a necessity. You should have previous experience of reporting and presenting concise financial information, and building lasting relationships with both finance and non-finance professionals alike. There will be a high volume of academic and stakeholder engagement, therefore you should have the ability to communicate to a very high level, both written and verbal, with a further focus on being inquisitive, articulate, and empathetic. You should have confidence within your own ability, and work load, and be skilled at planning and organising your time to ensure your work is delivered to a high standard within the required timescales, while be able to work with minimal supervision. You will be part of a team that have a strong team spirit and a can do attitude towards helping each other.
