Your new role
There are Three Faculties within the University: Arts and Social Sciences, Engineering and Physical Sciences and Health and Medical Sciences. This role is the finance lead for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). This is a stand- alone role, supported by the Finance Department shared services team, but will manage a budget in the region of £80 million. The role reports to the Deputy Director of Finance and works closely with the Executive Dean, the Faculty Manager, Academic Head of Schools and Departments and the Finance Department shared services. You will provide professional leadership on all financial and related issues within the business area and as part of the faculty’s Senior Management Team, you will contribute to and influence the development of the area’s strategy within the wider University, ensuring financial sustainability is maintained. Day to day responsibilities will be within the Faculty and includes, planning and organising, problem solving and decision making, continuous improvement and accountability.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be ideally CCAB/CIMA qualified from either the private or public sector. Experience in Higher Education and dealing with Academics is desirable, but not essential. You will be professional, empathetic, a good listener, patient and able to build strong working relationships. Strong social skills and the ability to liaise with finance and non- finance is a must. You will also be experienced in managing complex projects, working within a team and influencing others to achieve a strategic outcome.
