Your new role 

The Business Financial Analyst is a senior member of the Research Finance team, providing University-wide financial management information on research. The role reports to the Head of Research Finance and sits in a research team of 20. The information provided will inform fact-based decision making, covering financial planning and analysis split between supporting Academics/bids and accounting. Growing the income from Research Grants and Contracts is a key strategic focus of the University, and your role will provide in-depth analysis and accurate forecasting of Research (Income, Expenditure, Contribution and Recovery); directly impacting the development of strategic plans and the University’s financial sustainability. 
You will actively support in a commercial approach the Business Finance Managers in the provision of management reporting, forecasting and analysis to inform and maximise the University’s financial position.

What you'll need to succeed 

You will be ideally CCAB/CIMA qualified from either the private or public sector with experience in Higher Education and research administration being useful. You must be strong on providing management reporting including; month end, variances, forecasting, budgeting, financial planning and KPI but a preference and strength in analysis. You will be working with finance and non-finance colleagues, including academic staff, so relationship building is vital. You will have a passion and vision for analysis, be intelligent, academic and articulate. Proficient with large amounts of varied complex data and IT literate with excel and experience of Agresso would be ideal.
