The University of Surrey operates an innovative peer support service and an opportunity has arisen for a new member to join the team. Peer supporters are current students who work on a part time basis for the Peer Support team, offering support (through listening, empowerment, signposting) with any questions or concerns that may arise throughout the year, relating to student life. Peer Supporters aim to help their fellow students find solutions to problems at the earliest opportunity, before they impact further. Peer Supporters are proactive as well as reactive in the work they do.

The role of the Peer Support Coordinator involves the recruitment and training of the new intake of Peer Supporters each year, followed by the day to day line management of approximately 20 Peer Supporters.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication, self-organisation, and relationship building skills alongside a familiarity with student support issues. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, people-orientated individual who thrives on new challenges, is flexible, and is able to manage small teams of student Peer Supporters, as well as being an effective member of a small central team.

In addition to your salary you will receive a generous annual leave entitlement and excellent development opportunities. Benefits package includes an pension scheme and discounted membership to our world-renowned Surrey Sports Park.

If having read the Job Purpose you have any questions about the role please contact Carol Clutton (Peer Support Manager) (, 01483 686694).
