The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Surrey is a recognised world-leader in biosciences research.

We are looking to recruit a skilled laboratory technician to support our bacteriology research laboratory. Duties include preparation of basic buffers and media, stocking laboratory with frequently used consumables, ensuring that laboratory equipment is kept clean and well maintained. The post holder will work with the Senior Research Technician in providing technical advice, training and assistance to students and staff.

The post holder will assist in running of the core facilities (media autoclaves, Liquid Nitrogen Storage Facility) for the School of Biosciences and Medicine. The post holder will need to work flexibly and independently toward agreed goals. There will also be the opportunity to be involved in various research projects.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience of working in a laboratory, good communication skills, a strong understanding of laboratory health and safety and a practical approach to work.
