Lecturer in Energy Technologies


The Advanced Technology Institute and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is looking to further strengthen our activity in functional electronic materials and devices for future energy applications. 

The ATI is an example of ‘under one roof’ multidisciplinary research with a diverse range of nearly 160 researchers, about half of whom are PhD students and other early career researchers. Our staff come from a diverse range of backgrounds and countries and include electronic engineers, physicists, material scientists, chemists and chemical engineers. We also have close links with other Departments in the University such as the Centre for the Environment and Sustainability. The ATI’s activities are divided into four research groups: Nanoelectronics, Photonics and Quantum Science, Ion beams, and Theory & Advanced Computation. Our research portfolio increasingly addresses the ‘Grand Challenges’ in energy (in particular photovoltaics, solid-state light sources, energy storage, electronic devices and energy systems).

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer with expertise in electronic materials and devices. The successful appointment will complement our existing activities in large area electronics, light-matter interaction and nanoelectronics and electrical engineering to develop next generation energy technologies, including energy storage, utilising our extensive state of the art fabrication and characterisation facilities. Prior experience of working in collaboration with theorists is desirable. It is desirable that the appointee has experience of working closely with commercial partners. As well as building a strong independent research programme, you will be expected to contribute fully to undergraduate and postgraduate electrical and electronic engineering teaching.
