The School of Health Sciences is a leading provider of undergraduate education in nursing, midwifery, operating department practice, and paramedic practice. The School also has an extensive portfolio of postgraduate and continuing professional development courses, research and consultancy. The School has extensive links with local health care providers.

We are seeking to appoint a 0.8 FTE Research Fellow for 23 months to work on the evaluation of supplementary prescribing by dietitians and independent prescribing by  therapeutic radiographers funded by the Department of Health Policy Research Programme.  The PI for the project is Dr Nicola Carey, Reader in Long Term Conditions in the School of Health Sciences. The research study is a collaborative project with Brighton and Sussex Medical School, UCL Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Bristol Cancer Institute, North West NMP Health and Education co-operative alongside our patient advisor.

The post holder with be a suitably qualified researcher who has experience of social, health or medical science-related research and, ideally, a background in dietetics or therapeutic radiography. She/he will work with other members of the research team and take a significant role in planning, co-ordination and implementation of the research programme.

The School is based in a modern, purpose built, state of the art teaching facility on the University of Surrey campus in Guildford. The campus provides a pleasant working environment with close links to road and rail transport. Full time and part time options will be considered.

Please note, it is University Policy to offer a starting salary equivalent to Level 3.6 (£31,866) to successful applicants who have been awarded, but are yet to receive, their PhD certificate.  Once the original PhD certificate has been submitted to the local HR Department, the salary will be increased to Level 4.1 (£32,817).
