This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Research Fellow to join the AWE-University of Surrey Centre of Excellence in Materials Ageing, Performance and Lifetime Prediction (CoE in MAP-Life).  The suitable candidate will be expected to plan, implement and manage research programmes within the CoE and assist in the supervision of postgraduate students, as well as conducting their own research in an area related to the remit of the Centre.  This is an extended Fellowship and as such will give the successful candidate the opportunity to become a national authority and research leader.

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and have experience in the experimental assessment and modelling of degradation mechanisms and lifetime prediction.  Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication skills, as there will be significant opportunities for networking with a range of organisations.

The post is full time and is being offered on a Fixed Term Contract basis for five years.  Due to the unique opportunity afforded by this role, we are happy to consider candidates at various career stages.  The level of appointment will be dependent on the successful candidate’s skills and experience.

To enable close integration with AWE, the Research Fellow will need to obtain security clearance.  This means that they will need to be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past five years.
