The School of Literature and Languages is a vibrant and innovative School with an international research and teaching portfolio in English Literature and Creative Writing, Linguistics, Translation and Interpreting Studies, Modern Languages, Film and Intercultural Communication. We are seeking exceptional academics whose teaching ambitions complement those of our forward-looking School.

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow (A) in French to teach on UG Language programmes.

The successful candidate will be able to support the Languages team across the different programmes in both teaching and administrative support, take on personal tutoring responsibility for some students, and will be expected to contribute to all aspects of the  PTY (Professional Training Year) provision for students of French. This involves liaising with the Senior PTY tutor, placement providers and students, visiting students on placement and supporting prospective placement students with the application process.

Teaching will be primarily at undergraduate level, including level 6 dissertation supervision, though there will also be some teaching on our institution-wide language programme, the Global Graduate Award. Most of the teaching will be delivered in the target language.

The post holder will need to meet the standard requirements for Teaching Fellow A, and in addition to have native or near-native fluency in French. Language proficiency will be assessed during the interview.

This is a maternity-leave cover post and fixed-term from September 2021 to June 2022.

Applicants must possess a Master’s degree or appropriate equivalent professional qualification. A Teaching Qualification e.g. Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in HE or equivalent is desirable.
