FASS Faculty Admin

Location:  Guildford
Salary:  £27,924 to £32,344 per annum
Post Type:  Full Time
Closing Date:  23.59 hours BST on Sunday 14 August 2022

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) has three new vacancies for School Administrative Officers to expand the current admin support capability across the Faculty. Two posts will each support the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the School of Economics, and one post will support both the School of Law and the Department of Sociology. These are full-time roles but we welcome and encourage part-time applications as we are happy to support and facilitate job-share arrangements.

As the first point of contact within the School/Department, you will have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You will be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to managing your varied workload, working in an agile manner to maintain a high level of customer service under pressure. You should possess good IT skills, including MS Office, and be able to learn the different University IT and Finance systems.

One of the three Faculties in the University of Surrey, FASS provides internationally recognised undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, and each year welcomes more than 7,000 bright, dedicated students onto its degree programmes. We deliver an exceptional student experience and quality teaching, as demonstrated in its ongoing success in national league tables. Our research is world leading in fields such as the digital economy, sustainable tourism, the legal social and ethical implications of artificial intelligence, digital societies and diversity and inequality.

The working culture in the Faculty is warm and collaborative, and professional services colleagues play a key role in supporting the work of our academic staff and contribute directly to enhancing the experience of our students. Our Guildford campus is a great location to work at, with plenty of green spaces and a lake, the buzz of our community of staff and students, and excellent transport links.

In addition to your salary, you will receive benefits including a generous annual leave entitlement (40 days in total including bank holidays and University closure days), pension scheme, childcare assistance (including access to the campus nursery) and discounted membership to Surrey Sports Park.

Please indicate in your application if you have any preference to work with a specific School or Department and/or for a part-time position. Due to the nature of the role, there is a requirement for on-campus working, but some remote working may be possible subject to agreement.

Interviews for the roles are expected to take place on Thursday 25th August, but we can be flexible to allow for situations where applicants may already have leave booked for this date.

For an informal discussion about any of these positions, please contact Abigail Sharpe
