The role

As part of the Bioscience Foundation Year team, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning process within the programme. This role is for up to 0.4FTE (2 days a week) and would ideally start as soon as possible and is available/funded until July 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery of bioscience topics, ensuring that content is engaging, relevant, and aligned with the programme's objectives.
  • Support students in understanding and applying core concepts in areas such as biology, maths, chemistry and learning development.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of laboratory sessions, promoting safe and effective experimental practices.
  • Contribute to the assessment process, including marking assignments and providing constructive feedback to aid student development.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.

About you

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A PhD in a relevant bioscience discipline is advantageous.
  • Experience in delivery of teaching in bioscience courses and/or Level 3-4 transition teaching is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team of educators.
  • Commitment to promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
