A vacancy has arisen for the post of Knowledge Exchange Information Manager, within the Technology Transfer Office (a team within the University’s Innovation Strategy Directorate).

This presents a unique opportunity to join an institution at the forefront of technology transfer and innovation. The Technology Transfer Office works in close collaboration with the University’s Surrey Research Park – home to c. 120 companies and set to grow further over coming years, as well as strong sources of venture funds, and an active business angel community. It benefits from support and resources from the Centre for Innovation and Commercialisation, the University of Surrey Seed Fund (USSF), Impact Acceleration Accounts, and a network of external funding agencies, entrepreneurs, VCs, and the SETsquared partnership – a dynamic collaboration between the Universities of Surrey, Southampton, Exeter, Bristol and Bath, which was twice ranked as the Global No. 1 Business Incubator.

Knowledge Exchange is an area of growing importance to the University of Surrey. Access to high quality accurate information is essential to university senior leadership in order for them to understand trends, gain insights, efficiently report to internal and external stakeholders and implement strategy based on data-based evidence.

The post holder will curate, collect and combine “knowledge exchange data” (KED) from multiple sources (both internal and external to the University) (i) to ensure that Innovation Strategy decision making is efficient and effective, (ii) to ensure that Innovation Strategy reporting (both internal and externally) is carried out in a timely and accurate manner and (iii) to disseminate information arising from the data back to the Faculties and Departments to help them with their knowledge exchange and related decision making and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and relationship builder with the ability to quickly assimilate the key technical, commercial and societal advantages of any new technology, utilise a network of contacts to assess the value and potential for its exploitation and creation of impact, and to assist academic staff in obtaining matched or other funding to take the project forward.
