We have an exciting opportunity for a hands on, technically minded, motivated person to join our technical team within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences to support the School of Psychology.

The faculty is an innovative and fascinating environment to work in. Delivering teaching to over 5000 students training to be the Psychologists, Bio scientists, Nurses, Paramedics, Midwives and Veterinary Surgeons of the future.

The Role

You’ll be a key team member, working as part of a motivated team with the opportunity to build your skills and career as a Senior Technician. Responsible for supporting the School of Psychology with preparing laboratory facilities for students and research activities, setting up equipment, testing equipment and creating solutions to enhance and drive student experience. 

The School of Psychology has recently undergone a total refurbishment creating state of the art VR labs, observation labs and COG labs. We are looking for someone to develop these areas to deliver the school’s vision. 

You will have an in-depth knowledge of Health and Safety guidelines, understand camera and sound systems, virtual and augmented reality and have a willingness to learn new areas as the school develops. Prior technical experience and line management is essential for this role.

There are loads of opportunities, variety, and plenty of interaction with staff and students with some administrative work too, giving you the perfect backdrop to learn and develop.   

About you 

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a genuine interest in VR, AV, gaming, and a practical approach to work. You’ll be a customer focused, flexible, methodical, organised, technically minded and familiar with working in a laboratory/technical environment.

You will work well in a team and be able to work autonomously and as part of a wider team. You’ll offer guidance and professional judgement to the Technician and provide them with supportive line management.  Training will be in place to support and develop you and your team and help you develop in the role.
