Faculty Coordinator – Teaching and International

One of the three Faculties in the University of Surrey, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) brings together scholars and students from an extraordinary range of academic disciplines in a learning community dedicated to the discovery and enrichment of the arts, humanities and social sciences. Our Professional Services staff play a valued role in supporting our academic colleagues and work in a close-knit, friendly team across the Faculty.

The Faculty is made up of nine Schools and Departments: Economics, the Guildford School of Acting (GSA), Hospitality and Tourism Management, Literature and Languages, Law, Music and Media, Politics, Sociology, and the Surrey Business School (SBS). FASS is also home to the University’s joint venture in China, the Surrey International Institute (SII).

As part of the Faculty Senior Management Team, the Associate Dean Education (ADE) and Associate Dean International (ADI) lead the Faculty’s strategic approach to teaching and learning and international engagement. The Faculty Coordinator – Teaching and International works closely with the ADE to provide high level, professional administrative support for a wide variety of activities in the Faculty and across the wider University, assisting with Faculty administrative processes and activities relating to learning and teaching. The role also provides administrative assistance to the ADI, including but not limited to diary management, servicing committees, and other ad hoc duties.

The successful candidate will be a proactive and confident administrator, with the ability to exercise their own judgement and initiative when required, while operating at all times within University and Faculty processes and procedures. The role involves interaction with colleagues at all levels of seniority within the Faculty and across the University, and with external partners, so a professional and collegiate approach is essential. Full details of the role and person specification are given in the attached job description.

In addition to a competitive salary you will receive 25 days annual leave, with an additional 15 days for Bank Holidays and University closure days. Flexible and/or condensed working hours and a combination of on-site and remote working are possible to suit the requirements of the role. Applications on a job share basis are welcome.

At the University of Surrey, we are committed to providing an inclusive environment that offers equitable opportunities for all. We place great value on diversity and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. We are seeking to increase the diversity within our community and would particularly encourage applications from under-represented groups, such as people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and people with disabilities. We work together to create a truly inclusive culture. Appointments will always be made on merit.

[For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Abigail Sharpe on a.sharpe@surrey.ac.uk]

Interviews are scheduled to be held on 17th February on Campus.
