The Estate Services Department of the University of Surrey is seeking a motivated individual to join the cleaning team as a Cleaning Assistant working 35 hours per week.

Working as a Cleaning Assistant:

You will be responsible for providing a quality cleaning and sanitising service to our residential and academic buildings, ensuring all facilities are maintained to a high standard on behalf of students, staff, and visitors.

The roles cover all aspects of general daily cleaning duties including vacuuming, dusting, mopping and toilet/ washroom facilities. You will be using cleaning materials and sometimes operate cleaning equipment as required in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines and training. You will come into contact with a range of customers such as students, staff and visitors so a polite and courteous manner is essential. Awareness of health and safety and the ability to follow the training and H&S guidelines is vital. Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage but is not essential as support and training will be given. Uniform will be issued to you and you are expected to wear it at all times whilst on duty.

The ideal candidates will:

Need to be physically fit to carry out manual duties, carry cleaning materials and be able to move some small items of furniture and equipment.

Assist in the general safety and security of the buildings and any University property including keys and access control.

Be able to understand and act on both written and verbal instructions in English.
