Applications are invited for a Readership/Senior Lecturer in Microwave Semiconductor Devices and Modelling at the Advanced Technology Institute (ATI) in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, with a focus on developing new semiconductor devices, with comprehensive modelling methodologies to explore the interaction between device physics, electromagnetic theory and thermodynamics relevant to high frequency and high power operation. The theoretical work will be complemented by experimental investigations and will involve close interactions with Industry. The expectation is that this new activity will build upon a range of existing activities at Surrey including the highly successful Non-linear Microwave Measurement and Modelling (n3M) Laboratory and will lead to increased interactions between already well-established research groups including that with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), Teddington. Teaching duties within in areas of electrical, power and electronic engineering will be part of the successful applicant’s duties.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant and highly rated Department whose research is built around the Advanced Technology Institute, the Institute for Communication Systems encompassing the 5G Innovation Centre, the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing, and the Surrey Space Centre, all of whom enjoy strong international reputations and are actively involved in technology development. Within the Advanced Technology Institute there are existing activities in semiconductor device modelling and fabrication, and in-house facilities for such activities are excellent.
