The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Surrey is seeking to recruit two members of academic staff. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic Department as we aim to build upon our research and teaching strengths. We wish to appoint highly qualified and collegiate individuals with a passion for teaching and research. Expertise in environmental pollution, climate change adaptation and sustainable urban systems is particularly welcomed.

The Department offers highly praised undergraduate programmes with excellent employability prospects, together with a suite of popular MSc degrees in both contact and distance learning modes. Our research focuses on key societal needs around pollution, resilience and the natural and built environment. We were part of a very successful REF 2014 return in General Engineering, with 80% world leading or internationally excellent outputs.

Applicants must have a background in civil engineering with a PhD in a relevant field and be able to demonstrate a strong publication record and involvement in initiating and submitting grant applications. Evidence of high quality teaching and design experience, as well as success in attracting funding are significant advantages. Chartered Engineer status is desirable.

The successful applicant will contribute to core Civil Engineering teaching at undergraduate level and at MSc level in their specialist area and contribute to University life beyond teaching and research. S/he will be expected to join one of the research groups in the Department and undertake cutting edge research resulting in world leading outputs.

The qualifications required and job specification is detailed in the job profile. As part of their application, candidates are expected to submit:
