‘Delegation of insulin administration to non-registered healthcare workers in community nursing teams: an evaluation of care and practice for older people with diabetes’.

 

 The School of Health Sciences is a leading provider of undergraduate education in nursing, midwifery, operating department practice, and paramedic practice. The School also has an extensive portfolio of postgraduate and continuing professional development courses, research and consultancy. The School has extensive links with local health care providers.

We are seeking to appoint a full time Research Fellow for up to 16 months (part time 90% FTE would be considered) to work on the Community Insulin: Nurse Delegation of Injections (CINDI) project. This NIHR portfolio adopted study is funded by the Dunhill Medical Trust. The principle investigator (PI) is Dr Karen Stenner, Lecturer in the School of Health Sciences and the project is in collaboration with Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust and Kings College London.

The post holder with be a suitably qualified researcher who has experience of health or social science research and, ideally, an understanding of community health services. The researcher will work with other members of the research team and take a significant role in planning, co-ordination and implementation of the research programme.

The School is based in a modern, purpose built, state of the art teaching facility on the University of Surrey campus in Guildford. The campus provides a pleasant working environment with close links to road and rail transport. Full time and part time options will be considered.
