International Business Management

Accounting & Finance

Attractive package (including relocation assistance, accommodation and flights)

Up to 3-year Fixed Term Contract

The Surrey International Institute (SII), DUFE, is an academic partnership institution between Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE) in Dalian, China, and the University of Surrey in Guildford, Surrey, UK.

This Institution combines the recognised strengths of two highly respected universities: The University of Surrey is recognised as a world-leader for tourism education and research and DUFE has notable strengths in areas of accounting, finance and economics. SII is providing undergraduate taught programmes in the above-mentioned areas where students, on successful completion of the programmes, are awarded a degree by each university partner (referred to as dual degrees). All degrees are taught in English and are delivered to the same specification as the University of Surrey, UK degrees.

Three exciting opportunities have arisen for undergraduate Programme Director positions to manage the following programmes in China:

(1) International Tourism Management

(2) International Business Management

(3) Accounting and Finance

Candidates will need to teach on the programmes and, depending on academic pathway, may research in the relevant fields. Inclusive in the role will be some first-line-management tasks of the teaching teams. Successful candidates will be appointed to either Senior Teaching Fellow or to Senior Lecturer if they meet the expected standard in their research. We would also encourage applications from candidates who are currently at a lower grade but can demonstrate that they have the required skills and potential to develop into the role.

Experience in UK quality assurance and standards and programme leadership/management within a UK university will be highly regarded, in addition to teaching within a UK university and having experience as a module leader and other QA related posts/or responsibilities. Working within a team of experienced international academics, you will have the opportunity to discover new approaches to improving student learning and the student experience.

Candidates should possess a doctoral degree, while a teaching qualification or experience of teaching in a HE Institution would be an advantage. This role will provide an opportunity to combine academic rigour with professional realism. Therefore if you have relevant commercial experience this would also be of interest. You will need to be experienced in teaching using the English language and within an English speaking environment. Applications are particularly welcome from candidates who have experience working within UK-Sino HE institutions and from those who have taught international students, preferably from China.

If you are committed to providing programme leadership, quality teaching within a stimulating academic environment and would like to find out more, please contact the HR Department at FASS_HR@surrey.ac.uk or via 01483 683986.

For an informal discussion please contact the Dean (Operations) SII, Dr Gary Rivers: G.Rivers@surrey.ac.uk or Associate Dean (International) Professor Marco Mongiello: m.mongiello@surrey.ac.uk
